cancerversary!
I know I said I would be back in May to tell you how things were going, but I guess life has just got in the way, in a good way. Although it seems like I am always going to appts, I really am back to living life. Last summer sucked so this year I have been trying to get together and visit with friends and family here and away.
Went through some skin cancer bullshit at the end of May which caused some minor PTSD while being rolled on a gurney into the holding area for my surgery. I was looking around and realizing that it had been a year since having my ovaries removed. I think the nurses thought I was a little over dramatic until I told them I really wasn’t worried about having the skin cancer taken out, it had just kind of hit me that I was there for ovarian cancer exactly a year before!
I am writing to you today on my first cancer-versery. One year ago was my last chemo day. In some ways it seems so long ago because it is all such a blur. I think that is a good thing because I don’t remember much, but it is also not so good because I have little memory of all the nice notes, food, calls and texts from all of you.
Yesterday I went to my oncology appointment and all seems good and so now I just wait for my next scan, bloodwork and appt and so on and so forth. Don’t love my new normal, but it definitely beats some of the alternatives. I just now received an email that said “Cancer is Tough. We Are Tougher.” I suppose that sums it all up!
Happy Cancerversary to me!
Hope you are enjoying your summer! and thank you again for all your support and love 😘 ~ sara [a few pics of my summer so far!]
